After the wedding ,the prince and Mumtaz were inseparable, in war and in peace. She had given 13 children to Shahjahan and died during the birth of their 14th child at the age of 39. Shalimar is one of the best selling perfumes ever and its magic is undeniable.According to the legend, twenty- year-old Prince Khurram met a young girl, named Arjumand Banu at the bazaar where her family worked.

The wearer was a stylish older middle aged woman who told me her perfume was called "Shalimar", said it's her signature scent. As for me, this perfume recalls the era in which perfumes represented a posh lifestyle, good taste, elegance & dignity.

Shalimar was created by Jacques Guerlain in 1925, as a tribute to the legendary love story between Emperor SHAHJAHAN and his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

Before he became emperor his name was Prince Khurram.

I can’t believe this has been around for so long because yes it does smell vintage but at the same time there’s something timeless about it that makes it current. Please please bring back the Mexique one if you can't produce the true Shalimar anymore. If this perfume were a song, it would be that song by a famous Brit singer which makes you miss an ex-lover you probably never had. Edit: To add, there is a strong baby powder smell in this along with a bitter note I can't warm to. The civet note hit me like a sledge hammer right out the gates.

I do not think this is an old lady scent and I hate that term so much. Shalimar by Guerlain transports you—or me, rather, in places I’ve never been. Still a dislike, but I will sporadically try it to see if there's any change. Had to wash it off, needless to say it was a ugly off-putting first impression.

Wow, the difference between the vintage EDP, and the modern EDT is night and day. I fell in love with Shalimar Parfum Initial first which I think allowed me to love and appreciate Shalimar. But as I wore this I noticed such wonderful scents like incense and vanilla. As if Jacques Guerlain created Shalimar almost 100 years ago for the unreal. @ Yah-el In 2017 animalistic raw ingredients are forbidden... It's a light watered down illusion of the previous goddess it was in its real splendor.
